Ensalco' Low Temperature Belts are probably the only elastic belts that work at extremely low temperatures. These round, cold resistant belts are composed of an external silicone jacket and an internal metal spring. The cold resistant spring provides the elasticity, while the flexible jacket is actually under compression, so it does not have to be elastic. Ensalco' ultra cold resistant belts (also called Jacketed Spring Belts*) work down to -70oF (56oC).
For temperatures from -10oF (-23oC) to -40oF (-40oC) we recommend our solid Hytrel belts. They have a good elastic memory, but they must not be overstretched, and they have only fair abrasion resistance. At low temperatures, however, abrasion is usually not an issue. They work well in ice cream plants.
For temperatures from +32oF (-0oC) to -20oF (-29oC) we recommend our solid Low Temperature Urethane belting (Cyclothane-E). It has an excellent elastic memory and is very abrasion resistant. Thousands are being use in meat packing plants.
