Proven Design - Positive Direct Drive Belt System
The belt on a Flomaster Belt Power Turn is positively driven
by a shaft mounted sprocket engaging a precision sidebow chain which is attached directly
to the belt. This positive drive arrangement is unaffected by changes in loading, tension,
temperature, humidity and foreign material getting between the bottom of the belt and the
end rolls. When conditions change, there is no requirement for immediate attention to
maintain functional operation of the power turn. The Flomaster chain driven belt power
turn continues to operate in changing conditions while performance is not compromised.
Because the belt is merely a carrying surface and high
tension is not required for operation, belt life, as well as the integrity of the belt
joints is greatly enhanced. The absence of high belt tension increases the life expectancy
of end roll components (shafts, bearings, pulleys) due to the much lower stress levels of
the Flomaster Belt Power Turn design.
In short, the simplicity of the positive direct drive of a
chain driven belt insures continuous, reliable operation even in harsh and difficult
environments with minimal maintenance.
Flomaster Belt Power Turns have been used in a wide range of
applications requiring a variety of sizes. These turns have been used to move such
products as 4' x 8' (1219mm x 2438mm) pieces of plywood, luggage at international
airports, bottled products, mail, packages, newspapers and foods - to list just a few!
Besides special sizes other than standard sizes, Flomaster
regularly builds stainless steel units to meet strict USDA requirements. Portec is
the only USDA accepted belt power turn and spiral conveyor manufacturer.
Thousands of Belt Power Turns are in operation under the
toughest conditions around the world. Units built and installed over 35 years ago are
still operating on a continual basis!
